Six ways to celebrate the Festive Season this year!

Six ways to celebrate the Festive Season this year!

03 October 2019

With the arrival of colder weather and the nights drawing in, our thoughts naturally turn towards the festivities at the end of the year – Halloween, Bonfire Night and of course, Christmas.

You can spend Christmas or even New Year's in a choice of delightful destinations, travel beyond Britain and see Europe in all its yuletide splendour or celebrate in true British style closer to home. But with so much on offer, it can be hard to decide!

To help you choose, here are six of our favourite, hand-picked festive breaks that are sure to get you in the mood for mulled wine and Christmas Carols.

Christmas Narrowboat - Festive Sail with Santa

*Brand-new for 2020*

Christmas Narrowboat

If you're looking for a festive break with a difference this year, our brand-new Christmas Narrowboat tour might just be the one for you!

How does a leisurely narrowboat cruise along the historic Leeds and Liverpool Canal with Santa himself sound? You can sit back and relax as we take in the stunning Yorkshire countryside with mulled wine and mince pies, and join in with some much-loved carols on the wharf.

Not only that, but we will also enjoy a visit to Christkindelmarkt, Leeds’ annual German Christmas Market. Start your Christmas shopping or simply enjoy the fabulous seasonal atmosphere, with the aroma of sweet spices filling the air and the twinkling lights and colourful Carousel illuminating Millennium Square. This break is the perfect way to get into the festive spirit.

Amsterdam & Festival of Light Cruise

Amsterdam

Amsterdam is beautiful at any time of year, but never more so than in winter.

During the festive season, the beautiful canal-side city of Amsterdam is illuminated by fascinating light sculptures, projections and installations created by Dutch and international artists, designers and architects for Amsterdam’s Light Festival.

This 4-break, which includes return coach travel and ferry crossings, three nights at a 4-star hotel with breakfast, an excursion to Volendam and Amsterdam (the latter with a guided tour and a Light Festival canal cruise), offers a fantastic way to see the picturesque network of canals and historic cobbled streets of The Netherlands' capital!

Edinburgh Christmas Markets

Edinburgh

Scotland’s hilly and picturesque capital is a great place to visit at any time of year – from the Royal Mile, to Edinburgh Castle to Arthur’s Seat – there is plenty to see and do. This is particularly true at Christmas though, with festive markets held in the scenic settings of East Princes Street Gardens and George Street in the heart of Edinburgh, making them the ideal place to do a spot of Christmas shopping and soak up the atmosphere of this Scottish city.

This break includes return coach travel, accommodation with breakfast, an excursion to the Edinburgh Christmas Markets and an en-route visit to Glasgow. Just Go! has a variety of other Christmas Market breaks too.

Thursford Christmas Spectacular

Thursford

An annual tradition and one of our most popular festive breaks, the Thursford Christmas Spectacular is the biggest Christmas show of its kind in Europe! Set in the magical surroundings of a lavishly decorated auditorium with thousands of twinkling lights, Christmas trees and festive decorations, this Christmas musical experience delivers an extravaganza of non-stop singing, dancing, dazzling costumes, music, humour and variety from a cast of over 120 performers – most of who are straight out of the West End!

Choose from an overnight stay at a 4-star hotel with breakfast, or an all-singing-and-dancing 4-day break with dinner, bed and breakfast and nightly entertainment at one of four conveniently located hotels, plus an excursion to Norwich.
