Days 1 & 2 - Journey to Spain
We travel to Dover to catch the evening ferry to Calais. From here, we continue our journey through the night, arriving at our hotel in Salou on the afternoon of day two.
Day 3 - Tarragona
We head to the port city of Tarragona. The city has many Roman ruins including a 2nd century amphitheatre facing the sea as well as a walled, medieval Old Town. A walkway along the ramparts offers sweeping views of the city. Tarragona also has an assortment of plazas sprinkled with cafés and tapas bars.
Day 4 - Optional excursion to Barcelona with guided city tour (£19pp)
Join our optional excursion to Barcelona. We’ll see all the highlights of this vibrant, beachside city with our guided city tour, including the bustling streets known as the Ramblas, Gaudi’s incredible cathedral, the Sagrada Familia, and the area built for the 1992 Olympics.
Day 5 - Cambrils Market
We get a taste of local Spanish life at Cambrils Market. Taking place in the historical Old Town, this bustling market offers the opportunity to browse colourful stalls for souvenirs and a variety of local produce such as honey and olive oil plus churros, traditional Spanish doughnuts.
Day 6 - Optional excursion to Freixenet winery with tour and cava tasting & Sitges (£14pp)
Our optional excursion takes us first to the Freixenet winery in Sant Sadurní d’Anoia. On our guided tour, we learn about the process of creating cava using a combination of traditional methods and cutting-edge technology, followed by a tasting of the company’s different caves. We continue on to the charming seaside town of Sitges. The town boasts lovely sandy beaches, a palm-tree lined promenade and quaint narrow streets in the historic Old Town.
Days 7 & 8 - Journey home
We leave Salou in the afternoon, travelling overnight towards Calais. The following morning, we catch the return ferry home.
