Day 1
From a morning pickup in your local area we travel by coach to our hotel, arriving in time for dinner.
Day 2
Today we head to the quaint Bitton Station where we board our heritage steam train. From here we journey along the picturesque Avon Valley Railway, which opened in 1869 as a through-route between Birmingham and the South Coast. Next we enjoy an exclusive brake van ride hauled by the Fry’s Sentinal, or the Fry’s Chocolate Train as it’s affectionately known due to its working life at Fry’s Chocolate Factory in nearby Keynsham. Following a boiler inspection it ran under its own steam for the first time in over 60 years in April 2019!
Afterwards we sit back and relax on a cruise around Bristol Harbour.* Once a bustling dock where sailors and merchants would trade goods and set sail for voyages, Bristol Harbourside is now a world-class attractions complete with many restaurants and bars. We discover its fascinating history and contemporary culture on our leisurely cruise before returning to the hotel.
Please note: whilst a steam locomotive is scheduled to operate the main passenger service, in the event of mechanical failure, a diesel service will be used as a substitute.
*Access to the Bristol Harbourside boat is via 12 steps and may be unsuitable for those with limited mobility.
Day 3
After breakfast, we check out of the hotel and head to the beautiful city of Bath. The city has remained faithful to its Regency roots, with an abundance of elegant terraces, circuses and squares in a picturesque valley setting. The magnificent Royal Crescent is a must-see and the central square is home not only to Bath Abbey, but also the ancient Roman Baths. After enjoying some free time we continue our journey home.
