Experience the world’s largest military show against the backdrop of Edinburgh Castle on this thrilling three-day breakaway! The highly anticipated Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo returns on its 75th anniversary, with performers to the beat of heart-pounding music provided by military bands from across the globe. In addition to the main event, we have time to visit the famous spot for runaway couples, Gretna Green, to complete a fantastic trip away.

This tour is considered unsuitable for those with mobility concerns due to the steep, cobbled incline to Edinburgh Castle and the steps/tiered seating at The Tattoo.

The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo

After breakfast, we have time to spend at leisure. Then after lunch at the hotel, we depart for central Edinburgh where there’s free time before making your way to the castle to take your seat for The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo. The show brings together musicians and performers from every part of the world for a fabulous display of international culture. After the performance we travel back to our hotel.

Gretna Green

On our way home, we enjoy a stop at the marriage capital of the world, Gretna Green. In this famous village lies the original spot where young eloping couples would marry ‘over the anvil’ at the Blacksmiths Shop.

Accommodation

The comfortable and friendly Rob Roy Hotel in Aberfoyle is ideally situated for our break, at the gateway to the Trossachs. The en-suite rooms offer TVs, tea and coffee-making facilities and free Wi-Fi. The hotel also features a bar and a restaurant.

The Riverside Lodge Hotel, Irvine is nestled among the beautiful landscapes and yet ideally located for our itinerary. The en-suite rooms feature a TV and tea and coffee-making facilities. Other hotel facilities include a bar and restaurant.
