Discover the Tower of London’s history as a fortress, palace and prison on this great-value break which also includes free time to explore London at your leisure. Founded in 1066 as a grand display against the Saxons, the Tower of London has become one of the city’s most iconic landmarks. Still home to the Crown Jewels today, at one time the Tower was also host to the Royal Mint and has also housed a colourful selection of prisoners including the Princes in the Tower, multiple wives and associates of Henry VIII, the young Elizabeth I (prior to her coronation), Guy Fawkes, Samuel Pepys, Flora MacDonald, Rudolf Hess and even the Kray Twins.

Highlights

  • Return coach travel
  • Overnight stay at a selected hotel outside London (JG3 or JG4 rating) with breakfast
  • Admission to the Tower of London
  • Free time in London for shopping & sightseeing

Itinerary

From a morning pickup in your local area, we travel by coach to central London. Here we have time to explore the sights and attractions of the city. Have dinner in London (not included) before the coach takes us to our hotel for our overnight stay.

After breakfast at the hotel, we head back into central London for our included entrance to the Tower of London. Our coach departs for home in the mid-afternoon.

Accommodation

We’ll stay at a well-appointed hotel outside London (JG3 or JG4 rating). The comfortable rooms are en suite and other facilities include a bar and restaurant.

Your hotel will be confirmed approximately 3 weeks before departure, therefore we cannot guarantee that the hotel will have a lift and/or ground floor rooms and may be unsuitable for those with limited mobility.

Hotel Rating

Hotels with a JG3 rating tend to be a more formal style of hotel, often part of a hotel chain, or are very-welcoming family-owned properties. Generally, they offer a greater range of facilities and services, and bedrooms tend to be a little more spacious with additional features. Public areas are larger and include lounge seating, bar and restaurant with good quality food served either buffet style or waiter service.

Accommodation in our JG4 category is of an even higher standard, typically offering a wide range of facilities and services. Bedrooms are designed to make your stay the most comfortable possible and the staff provide a service that reflects the detail and quality. You can also expect higher standards of food and beverages.

Helpful Information

All of our London breaks include free time at leisure and we use a central coach drop-off point for our London tours, so these breaks may not be suitable for those with limited mobility. You will be required to make your own way to the theatre and/or attraction.
