Get ready for a day of legendary locomotives at The Legends of Steam gala, as we climb aboard spectacular steam trains of the 20th century, including the LNER, A4, 60007Sir Nigel Gresley’! Named after its designer and one of Britain’s most famous steam train engineers, this is your chance to sit behind the iconic steam engine, back in glorious British Railways 1950s blue for limited dates. Relax and enjoy the spectacular scenery as we travel on the East Lancashire Railway as well as the scenic routes of BR Standard, Class 7, 70000 ‘Britannia Class’ and LMS, Jubilee Class, 45690 ‘Leander’ locomotives. We then have time in lively Liverpool to sightsee or shop as we please, to complete this delightful three-day break.

Day 1

From a morning pickup in your local area, we travel by coach to our hotel in time for dinner.


Day 2

After breakfast, we travel to Bury for our full day of the Legends of Steam which includes unlimited travel on the East Lancashire Railway, where we board our carriage behind the impressive locomotive, Sir Nigel Gresley and marvel at the stunning countryside views. We also experience the preserved British Steam locomotives the Britannia and the Leander and have the chance to explore the Bury Transport Museum and the bustling atmosphere of Bury Market. Afterwards, we head back to the hotel for our evening meal.


Day 3

We depart the hotel after breakfast and travel to Liverpool. Discover the city on the celebrated day of St Patrick’s Day and soak up the special atmosphere, reinforced by Liverpool’s historic links to the Emerald Isle. enjoy some free time to explore the city’s fascinating history and ample shopping opportunities before continuing our journey home.
