Discover Europe in 2020!

17 September 2019

With all the confusion and chaos surrounding Brexit and our intended departure from the EU on 31st October, some people are understandably nervous about booking a holiday to Europe in 2020.

However, ABTA, the UK travel trade association for tour operators and travel agents, has advised that even in a no-deal scenario, UK holidaymakers won't need a visa even if there's no deal. Not only that, but the European Commission has said flights to and from the UK will still be able to operate and it is expected that coaches will still be able to travel to and from the EU as usual.

Crucially, though there is no reason to suggest any holidays booked after 31st October won’t go ahead as planned, customers who book a package holiday with a UK travel company enjoy the most comprehensive consumer protection. If you book a package, your holiday will be protected under the Package Travel Regulations, meaning you have a right to a full refund if your holiday can no longer be provided.

If you haven’t read it yet, we’d strongly advise you to read through our dedicated Brexit section on the website, which should hopefully allay any lingering fears!

A Tyrolean Tradition - See The Cows Come Home

***Best-seller***

Cows Coming Home Tyrol (Almabtrieb)

Almatrieb, Tyrol

In villages throughout Alpine Europe, a very special tradition takes place at the end of summer each year called the Almabtrieb. This is the bringing down of cattle from high in the mountains to their village quarters after a summer of grazing in flower-filled alpine meadows.

The animals are decked out in magnificent headdresses decorated with garlands of greenery, meadow flowers and ribbons, plus heavy leather collars complete with a clanging cowbell to ward off evil demons on the way. The procession makes its way down the mountain and through the streets before the animals are sorted and reunited with their owners, then their safe return home is celebrated in lively village festivals enjoyed by locals and tourists alike, with music, dancing and perhaps the odd stein of beer or two!

This holiday gives you the chance to take part in the celebrations and a full itinerary of excursions creates a true Tyrolean experience not be missed.
