The months of September and October are ideal for escaping on a European holiday. From beaches and beautiful coastlines, to bustling capital cities, autumn showcases the best of what Europe has to offer. Here are our picks for destinations you should travel to this autumn.
Italian Riviera
The Italian Riviera is a stunning area of coastline found at the heart of the Mediterranean. By September, the temperatures in the region have settled at a pleasant average of 23℃, and the peak crowds from the summer months have dissipated. What makes the Italian Riviera special in autumn, is the vibrant tones of oranges and golds that wash across the region, making it a picturesque backdrop for your holiday. It’s also harvest season, meaning you will get plenty of opportunities to indulge in an abundance of fresh and delicious produce.

Amsterdam
A lot of people think of Amsterdam in the spring, when tulips can be seen as far as the eye can see. But the Dutch capital is just as beautiful in autumn when tones of oranges, golds and reds wash across the city.
Unlike other European destinations, Amsterdam is on the cooler and sometimes more damp side of things come autumn, but with a light jacket and sturdy walking shoes you will be able to explore the city without any problems.
Throughout autumn Amsterdam becomes a hub of cultural and lively events. From film festivals to art exhibitions, there is so much to enjoy. And if the weather becomes a little too inclement, there are plenty of cafes to visit, where you can relax and warm up with a hot drink and sweet stroopwafel.

The Pyrenees
If you want to swap the city for sweeping mountains and striking landscapes, get yourself to the Pyrenees. Heading into the autumn months, temperatures in the Pyrenees sit just shy of 20℃, making it just right for exploring some of the region's historic towns and villages such as Rocamadour and Os de Civis.
Autumn is the best time to visit the Pyrenees as the region’s green forests of oak, pine and beech transform into a warmer hues of red, orange, and yellow.
