Day 3 – Bolzano, Soprabolzano & Collalbo
Today we enjoy a guided walking tour of the alpine town of Bolzano, the capital of Italy’s picturesque and mountainous region of South Tyrol. From here we take a cable car to Soprabolzano, making our way up to an altitude of 1,221m and admiring the views before we enjoy a nostalgic train ride to Collalbo. Take in the wide meadows and fields with views of mountain farms and glimpses of the beautiful Dolomites.
Day 4 – San Antonio, rack railway to Passo della Mendola & winery visit
This morning we enjoy a guided visit of the village of San Antonio before taking the rack railway to Passo della Mendola, a 1,363 metre-high mountain pass where we can soak up more spectacular views of the Dolomites. Later we have a guided visit and wine tasting at a winery – the perfect way to relax and indulge!
Day 5 – Caldes Castle & Assessorile Palace
We catch the train from Mezzolombardo to Caldes, where we can take in the scenic vistas before we enjoy a visit to Caldes Castle. Work began on the castle in the 13th century, and since its construction it has become associated with many legends as well as a tragic love story. Next, we visit Assessorile Palace in Cles to discover more about the history of this atmospheric palazzo.
Day 6 – Lake Garda & Limone
With its deep azure waters fringed by pastel-coloured villas and olive and lemon groves stretching out towards the foothills of snow-capped mountains, Lake Garda is the largest and, arguably, the most charming of the Italian lakes. We explore this gorgeous landscape with a scenic boat cruise, stopping at the picturesque waterfront town of Limone for time at leisure.
