Haverfordwest & St Davids (full day)
We head first to Haverfordwest, the county town of Pembrokeshire. Once a thriving port, it offers a pleasant converted quay and riverside walks, as well as an imposing medieval castle dating back to 1110 – a sign of the town’s ancient past.
We then travel to St Davids, an attractive and peaceful village within the beautiful Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, granted city status due to the presence of its 12th-century cathedral. This is the smallest city in Wales and is where the country’s patron Saint, St David, was born.
Aberystwyth & the Vale of Rheidol Railway (full day)
We spend some time in the well-known resort of Aberystwyth, where we climb aboard the Vale of Rheidol narrow gauge railway. Recreating Edwardian ambience, we sit back and relax in our restored vintage carriage for a journey of almost 12 miles through stunning scenery. We pass through ancient and enchanting woodlands to the village of Devil’s Bridge, home of the famous waterfalls.
Tenby (half day)
We spend a relaxing day in Tenby, a picturesque seaside town on the south coast that was once a popular health resort with Victorians. There’s plenty to explore here, from browsing the wide range of shops and strolling along the cobbled streets or the sandy beaches, to admiring the distinctive town walls, built in the late 13th century by the first Earl of Pembroke.
